2021 is our 30th anniversary! We celebrated this important milestone at the biannual SWS Rendezvous and Trophy, hosted within the 2021 Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta, and held from June 1-5 in Porto Cervo, Sardinia.
The conditions were perfect to be back at sea for a safe and enjoyable event: owners and crews of some of our most beautiful yachts enjoyed four days of sailing in beautiful conditions and a social programme which was long waited.
There were eight Southern Wind yachts docked at the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda: these were the newly launched RP-Nauta 100 Morgana, SW96 Seatius, SW94 Aragon, SW110 Thalima, the SW82s Grande Orazio and Ammonite, and the SW100s Cape Arrow and Freebird.
Each day was more beautiful than the one before, every day was more and more fun.
All yachts participating in the Rendezvous program received a daily picnic hamper provided in collaboration with our event partner Pantaenius and two magnums of Franciacorta wine provided by Bellavista. The Rendezvous fleet had a daily start of their own before heading off on a program of short sails through the Arcipelago della Maddalena to then drop anchor and enjoy an afternoon in Sardinia’s breath-taking bays as the racing fleet sails by. “In the wake of the success of our smaller “family events,” this alternative Southern Wind Rendezvous and Trophy program let all our owners enjoy the atmosphere of the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta with their friends and a smaller non-racing crew and it seems they all appreciated it”, says Andrea Micheli, SWS Commercial Director.
Now in its thirteenth year, the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta is an annual event organised by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda with Title Sponsor, Loro Piana.
Thanks to the long-lasting collaboration between these two prestigious players, the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta is arguably the most exclusive event in the Superyacht calendar and is held in the enchanting village of Porto Cervo, home of the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda.
This Regatta attracts some of the world’s most magnificent sailing superyachts that have an overall length of 27m to 60m. This year the Southern Wind fleet represented the 60% of the event participants: a great achievement for us and we thank our owners for their enthusiastic participation.
The 30th Anniversary Southern Wind Trophy was one of those magical moments that you wish would never end. All we can say now is arrivederci and fair winds until we see you again!
