Southern Wind Shipyard will be celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2016 with an Anniversary Rendezvous scheduled from May 24 to May 28 in Capri. The Rendezvous will coincide with the thirteenth edition of the Southern Wind Trophy that will be held within the Rolex Capri International Regatta. The regatta is sponsored by Rolex and organized in collaboration with Yacht Club Italiano, Yacht Club Capri and Circolo Canottieri Aniene. The first edition of the Southern Wind Shipyard Trophy, was held in Capri in 1998 within the Settimana dei Tre Golfi. “The return to Capri is a bit of a sentimental journey for me,” says Willy Persico, CEO of SWS. “I grew up in Naples so these waters bring back many a fond memory. Capri seemed the most appropriate choice for the Rendezvous and Trophy that will celebrate this very special anniversary year”. The Rolex Capri International Regatta will open the Mediterranean superyacht racing. From twelve to thirteen Southern Wind yachts arriving for the Southern Wind Anniversary Rendezvous and Trophy will round out the Rolex Capri International Regatta fleet and enjoy four days of “soft racing” against other Southern Wind yachts while also competing with the rest of the fleet.
Racing will be organized according to the new Racing Rules of Sailing with staggered starts. On top of the rich and varied regatta and events program, Southern Wind owners, crews and friends will also enjoy a dinner at Capri’s famous “La Canzone del Mare” restaurant with its breathtaking view over the Marina Piccola and the Faraglioni rocks. In this special occasion, the company will proudly unveil the shipyard perspectives for the future.
