The Southern Wind SW102 Farfalla places third at the New Zealand Millenium Cup

(Auckland, 24-27 January 2017)

At her debut in an offshore regatta, SW102 Farfalla was tied for second place and won third in one of the most renowned superyacht regattas in the Pacific: The New Zealand Millennium Cup.

This event is a celebration of good racing, great cruising grounds and exceptional hospitality in friendly Kiwi-style. Generous sunshine, blue skies and good winds were the setting for three days of racing in the waters of the Bay of Islands, known for their beauty and history.

Fresh from an intense charter season in the islands of Polynesia, the 102 footer designed by Farr Yacht Design and Nauta Design arrived in New Zealand earlier this year where she benefited of a series of interventions aimed at changing her from cruising to racing mode, as captain Richard Chadbrun reported:

The regatta went very well for us, all our modifications worked well and everyone had a great time. This was our first regatta on Farfalla and as an experience it was second to none! The Bay of Islands is a wonderful place to sail and the conditions allowed us to test our boat and crew to a very high level. The racing was close, the camaraderie amongst owners and crew was wonderful and, reassuringly, we found ourselves a little more competitive than anticipated. It was a fantastic week and great introduction to regatta racing for us; we now look forward to competing in the Mediterranean this summer.

…And we’re looking forward to it too!

Congratulations Farfalla!
