The Loro Piana Caribbean Superyacht Regatta is one of the most exclusive events in the Superyacht calendar. Organized by Boat International Media and the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda (YCCS), it attracts some of the world’s most magnificent sailing superyachts for five days of competition and an exclusive social program in the British Virgin Islands.

Given the significant fleet of Southern Wind yachts enjoying the winter Caribbean regatta season, it is not surprising to find SWS yachts battling for the podium at this event. The competition is also a perfect occasion to charter a Southern Wind yacht and enjoy racing in one of the world’s most beautiful spots.

Hundreds of superyacht owners and their crews chose to spend Easter at the St. Barths Bucket Regatta, where pursuit-style racing of gorgeous superyachts has become an annual affair since 1995. Over the years, many of the world’s most notable and accomplished sailors have participated in the racing.  Nonetheless, as the Bucket Regatta has evolved, the organizers have focused on maintaining the original camaraderie and non-commercial spirit of the event. It was, and still is, an event conceived and hosted purely for the pleasure and enjoyment of sailing superyacht owners, as it is in the philosophy of most of the Southern Wind racing owners.

The RORC Caribbean 600 is the only offshore race of the Caribbean series. Established in 2008, this race has already become a favorite, with many well-known sailing yachts competing. Starting from and finishing in Antigua, the route zig-zags around 11 Caribbean Islands including Nevis, St Kitts, Saba and St Barth’s before looping around St Maartin and heading south around Guadeloupe for a total of 605nM.

With warm seas and steady trade winds, the Caribbean is an offshore racing paradise and the RORC Caribbean 600 is the perfect occasion for Southern Wind yachts to display their blue water souls and competitive spirits, with no compromise on comfort and performance.

The Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta, organised by the YCCS and Boat International Media, attracts an ever-increasing fleet of sailing superyachts for five days of challenging coastal races in the waters around Porto Cervo, Sardinia (Italy) followed by five nights of top class social events. The SWS fleet usually plays a key role at this event representing about 30% of the yachts registered. The Southern Wind Trophy has been held every other year at this exclusive event since 2008.

Porto Cervo and the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda have been inextricably linked to maxi yacht racing for over 30 years. The Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup, organized in collaboration with the International Maxi Association and with the support of title sponsor Rolex, gathers ever-more impressive and technologically advanced fleets for racing each September. Competing divisions range from the new Maxi 72 class to the Supermaxi division for yachts of over 30.5 metres.

Many Southern Wind owners are frequent competitors at this regatta, one of the Med’s most challenging and exclusive events.

Organised by the World Cruising Club since 1986, the ARC sees a fleet of 200 boats of all sizes sailing from Gran Canaria to Santa Lucia, 2700 nm and an entire ocean away. The event can be taken as a full-on oceanic regatta or as a cruise in company; either way it has become a “must” on the sailing calendar. True to their blue water spirit, many SWS yachts participate in the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers to cross the Atlantic and enjoy a long Caribbean winter’s summer of cruising and competing in this area’s pristine waters.
